Mens Skin Care Tips
Quick & Easy Male Skin CareMens skin care is not really that different from women’s skin care. Surprising right? Basically, everyone wants healthy, clear, non-oily skin. Everyone wants to minimize the look of fine lines and wrinkles and sunspots. Everyone wants to look their very best, but without breaking the bank or committing to a two-hour process every day. Am I right? So, here you are. Wondering if this site can really help you figure out male skin care. And I am here to tell you “yes.” Are you asking yourself, "What does a girl know about men's skin?" I don’t blame you if you are. Now, while I’ve done very extensive mens skin care research, I’m still not a man. But! I have a "secret weapon". My husband. He has particular mens skin care needs (such as reducing oiliness and clearing out blackheads), and he’s been a very good guinea pig as I’ve tried a myriad of solutions on him. His skin is extremely sensitive, also, so if that’s a problem of yours, I know how you feel. I think he has a pretty good idea of the problems men suffer. In fact, you probably suffer with some of the same issues. I hope our tips for mens skin care help you as much as they’ve helped him.
The Basic Difference Between Men & WomenMen and women’s skin have some noticeable differences. For instance, men often have oiler skin than women. This can be not only hereditary but also environmental. Why? They're usually outside more due to sports and work. Men's skin is constantly subjected to not only harmful UV rays, but also pollution and grime in the air. Additionally, the oil to help their facial hair grow can cause a sheen. Men often fail to use sunscreen, so their skin tends to show aging more quickly than a woman's. Men tend to be more blemish prone than women. They don't cleanse, exfoliate or moisturize their skin like women do, so they experience more problems. Men shave their faces, leading to skin irritation, razor burn and even dry skin in some cases! Shaving can make sensitive skin more sensitive and irritated. My goal is to give you practical, useful mens skin care tips. These are the secrets for an effective, quick male skin care routine. In, out, and get on to your day! Forget the soap!My #1 male skin care tip is to drop the soap for face cleaning. Soap will dry your face out. The lack of oil causes your skin to stress out, and it produces even more oil to make up for it. This is the vicious cycle of stripping all the oily away only to have an even oilier face at the end of the day. Mens skin care should include a good cleanser that you use at least once a day. Your cleanser should have some exfoliating substance, like micro-beads, and be oil free. Use it in the shower while the warm water softens your skin. You’ll get the best results this way. AftershaveSecondly, you should definitely include a refreshing aftershave moisturizer in your skin care routine. Here’s why… Shaving irritates and dries out your skin. Have you noticed how dry and sticky shaving cream is? It isn’t lubricating at all, but unless you want to use a brush to whip up your own cream every time you shave (which the hubby does due to his extra-sensitive skin), you’ll need to replace the moisture your shaving strips away. After shaving the direction of the hair growth, apply the moisturizer. Most aftershave is alcohol based in order to tighten the pores and stop any bleeding from nicks. What should you buy? Alcohol-free aftershave, of course! It will still dry quickly and not feel sticky, but leave your skin feeling soothed and refreshed. There are many brands available now, so head over to your local drugstore and see what’s on the shelf. Moisturizers
Now, this may be a bit too far out for some guys, but read it and then decide if you still don’t want to use it. Using an oil free moisturizer will tighten your skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while keeping air- born pollutants out of your pores. It also helps in the dead of winter when many people’s skin gets cracked and dry. Also, a lot of moisturizers now come with sunscreen blended in, so you get a bonus time-saving step! SunscreenNow, you didn’t think I’d let you read a whole page about mens skin care and not bring up sunscreen, right? I know, you’ve heard it all before, but I think it’s worth saying again. Wear sunscreen. Especially if you're outdoors for any reason (you mow the lawn, right? Coach the kid’s teams, maybe love to hike or play sports?), wear sunscreen. SPF of 15 or 30 is plenty effective. Put it on your neck (front and back, fellas), face, and ears. That’s All There Is!See? Male skin care isn’t nearly as bad as I bet you though it would be. I’m not saying wear frou-frou masks or use chemical peels (though, they’re both helpful for certain things), I’m just saying give your skin a little love and you’ll get a whole lot of benefit in return. Now get out there and start taking care of your skin, man!
