The Best Biker Skin Care Tips!
It’s great that more people are learning about motorcycle skin care. It’s too bad hours of bike riding can leave your skin dry, red, chapped, raw and sunburned. We’ll give you the biker skin care tips you need to keep your skin healthy and happy and leave you to hit the open road. PSSSTTT! These tips also work well for the “10-speed” bike riders. Sun DamageYou knew this was coming, didn’t you? Being out in the sun while riding is really hard on your skin. Lots of bikers still don’t wear sunscreen. Wear Sunscreen! It’s easy and it really helps your skin from looking like overdone beef jerky. SPF 15-30 is usually adequate and you might want to look for waterproof if you’re inclined to sweat or ride through rain. Remember that when it rains, the sun reflects off the puddles and back on to you. If that glare hurts your eyes, it will also affect your skin. Biker LubeNope! It’s not what you think! But, it is a wonderful invention. It’s a gel developed especially for motorcycle skin care. You spread it on your face and neck before heading out to ride. It acts like a barrier or a "windstop"; you’re still riding but your face is protected from drying out. This is usually an aloe vera based gel, so you can always substitute with pure aloe vera gel until you get your hands on some lube. Motorcycle Skin Care RoutineSo, are you ready for the biker skin care routine? Your skin is exposed to lots of debris in the air that can get lodged in your pores. Everything from dirt and dust to smog and pollen is out there waiting for a good home. And that home is your face. When you get home each day from riding, be sure to wash your face and follow with an oil-free moisturizer. Cleanser: Cleansers should be gentle. Use a cream or one with microbeads. You don’t want anything too abrasive or you won’t be doing your skin any favors. Moisturizer: A good, oil-free moisturizer can be your best friend. It’s going to replace all the essential oils that keep your skin soft and lubricated. Those are the oils that you lost going 65 MPH out on the highway. Drying your skin out like that over and over again isn’t going to do anything but irritate it. Keep it moisturized and you’ll feel a lot better. If you want to cut out a step get yourself a moisturizer with SPF already in it. Put it on before you head out, and carry it with you for reapplying if you’re riding for the whole day. But My Skin Is Oily/Acne ProneWhether your skin is like this naturally or it’s from riding your bike, you still need the right biker skin care products to help treat it. Your skin gets oily from riding because the constant wind is drying it out. To compensate for being dry your skin produces more oil. And if you’re prone to acne this can cause more to show up. So what do you do? Simple. Wash your face when you get home with a gentle cleanser. Use one with benzoyle peroxide or salicylic acid if you have acne. Then use an oil-free and alcohol free moisturizer. Avoid toner! When you’re on the road, you might want to use toner/cleansing pads. Make sure they’re alcohol free otherwise you’ll be making the problem worse. You can toss them in your bag, and when you stop you can clean the road debris off your face. They’re really great little inventions. Need More Oily Skincare Tips? Click Here! Let’s RecapOk, if you’re looking for motorcycle skin care here is what you do: 1.
